You are probably a much nicer parent than you think. You are always stronger, more resilient, more vulnerable, funnier, braver and certainly less perfect than you think. But anyone who cares for children could use some tools to give parenting stress head and heart.

  • For whom is this training suitable?

    The 8-week Mindfulness training for parents: mindfulness in parenting, is designed for every parent of children from 4 years to 16 years, who could use some tools to cope with parenting stress. It seems simply impossible to guide children toward adulthood without a scratch or a bump. We all deal with our own dents and dents. Unwritten rules, customs and traditions from our own childhood are often magnified once you have children of your own.

  • Mindfulness in parenting

    Mindfulness is not about right or wrong. But is about conscious, non-judgmental attention. Open benevolent attention to feelings, thoughts and the habit of governing them in a certain way. Learning to recognize patterns of both your children and yourself and, in time, to be able to change them. From within, rather than from without. This changes expectations, the way of communicating with each other, the care for each other and the freedom to be allowed to be autonomous.

Contents Mindfulness in parenting

The training consists of 8 weekly 2.5-hour online meetings. We ask you to do your "homework" daily during the training. This homework is in the form of meditation, daily reflection on stressful moments and your reactions to them. Practicing being more consciously present with what you are doing while you are doing it, thinking it or feeling it is an important element. Using audio files, and the Sitting Still App you practice your mind becoming clear, stable and resilient. Milder towards yourself and others and less reactive in communication.

Learning outcome Mindfulness in parenting training

Main learning output:

After the 8-week Minfulness training, the student will be able to better manage stress, emotions, thoughts and physical symptoms.

Partial returns:

  • The student can observe thoughts, feelings and bodily signals from a friendly inner attitude, without immediately reacting to them, or identifying with them;
  • The student knows forms of self-care, and can apply it in daily life;
  • The student can name the influence of thoughts and feelings on automatic non-wholesome behaviors and can transform them into wholesome behaviors.

After 8 weeks, participants can

  • Apply the basics of meditation in daily life allowing the body and mind to come to rest
  • are out of their heads in touch with their bodies
  • better feel their limits and respond to them beneficially
  • better understand and regulate emotions
  • healthy communication
  • compassionate treatment of self and others, changing automatic responses to stress and its consequences.
